Calgary World cup

2009-12-02

I'm now in Calgary for world cur #3. After a good start to the season at fall world cup trials, 2 world cups where things didn't go quite the way I had planned, I'm gonna enjoy this next month before olympic trials and make sure I find my good fellings on the ice, go faster and faster every day and every race to be as fast as I can when I come back here for the olympic team selection. It's always fun to skate in calgary.

On another note, we're staying in a new hotel on campus right by the oval and its very nice, plus everyone has his own room wich is a big plus and makes being on the road a lot more enjoyable.

Tuning up for world championship in Vancouver

2009-02-21

I’m presently in Richmond, BC. I got here about a week ago in order to prepare for the final world cup in Salt Lake City and especially for the world single distance championship to be held here in Richmond. It’s always really nice to skate here in the Richmond Olympic Oval. The glass walls around the oval offer a stunning view, with the mountains as a background and the Fraser literally at our feet. It almost feels like home to me even though I’m 4000 kilometers away. Skating is going really well, I feel like my rhythm is back and I’m making some progress. The last two international competitions of the season should be a lot of fun.

canadian single distance

2008-12-28

The first day of Canadian single distance championship is over. I raced in my favourite distance, the 500m. It's been a month and a half since the last time I raced and about to weeks since I got back on the ice so the races felt like they were the first ones of the season in a way that my timing was not all there yet. I managed to improve my time by 0,2s in the second 500m to clinch the fifth spot in a very, very close ranking for the first 5 positions. I'm very proud of myself to have taken a world cup spot under these circumstances and to see that I can do a lot of things better technically to get faster.

Back to racing for canadian single distance

2008-12-17

After what happened in Heerenveen about a month ago and my time off the ice, I'm now back on the ice. I started skating seriously a couple days ago and I'm getting ready to compete at the national canadian single distance championship in Vancouver, starting on December 27th. I feel really good on the ice right now and I even think my time off the ice helped my to refocus on what makes me fast on the ice and how to bring these things into my skating. I'm looking forward to race again to see where I'm at and keep on improving race after race.
